Week 1

We've decided on a projects topic, which is infact what my team member and I have been working on during the holidays.

The project is basically a 3D game, with a additional function of sound input. The game will follow triditional RPGs and to cut short our storyline and make things easier for us, we've decided to replace some elements of the RPG with plat former style puzzles. Apart from these facts, we need to include some sense of player immersion and a way to attrach player to keep playing the game or even to get additced to it, we decided to add an element of adventure to it.
So it basically goes like that, the user will be running around in this 3D world, sovling puzzles and killing enemies, and the way to actually trigger these things to happen in the game was to sing a note via a sound input device.
The main intention here would be to try and bring something new into the gaming industry by combining various existing technologies, while thinking of what we wanted to do, one of our main objectives in this case would be to be able to come up with something that by the end of the development stage, we could approach a company like Sony or Nintendo and hopefully be able to market it to them.

This would add a whole new flavour to the style of which game are being played, since the boom in periphrial based games like SingStar, DDR, and Guiter Freaks, we wanted to bring such technologies into the RPG genre and actually see what can be done.

Throughout this week we will be looking for ways, codes, middle-wares, whatever that is useful and helpful that would be able to help us extract value from the the input device which in this case would be a microphone.
The other project member s will be going through the game engine, as we've already decided upon the Torque Game Engine and will intend to purchase it soon sometimes during the week.
